Remember the foundations of the entire Daily Five concept are:
"trusting students,
providing choice,
nurturing community,
creating a sense of urgency,
building stamina,
and staying out of students' way once routines are established."
(Boushey & Moser, 2006, p. 18) The Daily Five
Review the "Ten Steps to Improve Muscle Memory" (Boushey & Moser, 2006, p. 37)
Launching the Daily Five is a gradual release of responsibility...and holding students accountable for high classroom expectations.
BEST WAYS TO START:
1. Have your Pensieve (Conferring Notebook) ready to go as it is something you will carry with you throughout the literacy block.
2. Follow the launch guides in The Daily Five on pages 58 and 111.
3. Follow the lesson explanation in the Daily Five book on page 46.
(You will start with Read to Self first...only Read to Self!)
